How this site is built for keyboard, screen-reader and reduced-motion use — and how to tell us about a barrier so we can fix it.
Blue Mountain Construction Services Inc aims to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA on this site. Where we fall short, we would rather hear about it than not.
What is built in
- A skip link as the first focusable element on every page, jumping straight to the main content.
- Semantic landmarks — header, navigation, main, footer — and one
h1per page with headings in order beneath it. - Text and background colours checked for contrast against the AA thresholds, including the muted text and the form placeholders.
- A visible focus outline on every link, button, field and disclosure, distinct from the hover state.
- A real
labelbound to every form field, with hints associated rather than implied. - Questions built on native disclosure elements, so they open and close with the keyboard and work with JavaScript disabled.
- The service submenu reachable by keyboard without JavaScript, and the complete navigation repeated in the footer.
- Every drawing either hidden from assistive technology as decorative, or given a title and a description of what it shows.
- Layout that reflows to a single column without horizontal scrolling, and text that survives being enlarged.
Motion
There is one animation on this site: the plan drawing on the home page draws its dimension lines once as the page loads. Everything else is a short fade as content scrolls into view. All content is present and readable without any of it.
If your operating system or browser is set to reduce motion, this site respects that setting and removes every animation and transition, including the drawing.
Known limitations
The plan and section drawings communicate through spatial relationships. Each carries a text description, but a drawing is inherently harder to convey than a sentence. If a description is not doing its job, tell us and we will rewrite it.
Documents we send you outside this website — a scope of work, a plan set, a permit record — are produced in the formats the trade and the building department use, and those are not always accessible. If you need a document in a different format, ask and we will provide it.

Accessibility also comes up in the work itself. Curbless showers, wider door openings, grab-bar blocking and comfort-height fixtures are ordinary parts of a scope of work, and they cost least to include while the walls are already open. The bathroom remodeling page covers this in more detail.
